Renewing or updating a Colombian cédula

Separate renewal from online replacement of a lost card; validate your visa and procedure first.

Last reviewed: October 29, 2026

What changed?

If your cédula or visa is due to expire, or your personal data or immigration status changed, check whether the correct service is renewal, reissue or another identity update. Different events can involve different forms and evidence; the authority can confirm the relevant procedure.

Use the official service

Start at Migración Colombia’s cédula page and its current tariffs and FUT instructions. Do not confuse a normal renewal with the separate fully online duplicate flow for a card that is lost, stolen or damaged.

Check validity and appointment needs

Keep your current visa and card details at hand, but do not submit sensitive documents to this guide. Where biometric capture or updated information is needed, use the official scheduling system and follow its instructions.
